Tropiclim project finalized

Missions :

The main objectives of the Tropiclim project were to contribute to :

• improving knowledge of air conditioning demand in tertiary buildings on Reunion Island, by developing tools to help optimize the design of centralized air conditioning systems in tropical environments, in conjunction with better knowledge of actual building demand (based on simulations and measurements)
• assessing the energy and economic performance of different technical solutions, with the aim of facilitating design choices, using the example of solar thermal air-conditioning (based on in-depth measurements of an existing installation over a full year) in comparison with conventional solutions.

Freely distributed guides for building professionals and contractors have been produced to help improve centralized air-conditioning practices in La Réunion.

Task 1: Development of tools to help optimize the design of centralized air-conditioning systems in tropical environments, based on a better understanding of actual building demand.
